Four Pillars of A Hand Up

Psalm 118:22, “The stone which the builders rejected has become the Chief Cornerstone.”

Hand Up is aware that the strength of any organization is the foundation pillars which everything else rest on. These pillars are the basis for all our goals and plans for ministry.

Pillar One: “Jesus” Jesus is the Head as well as the Chief Cornerstone (Pillar). Jesus says, “I have come that you may have Life and have it more abundantly.” John 10:10b. It is upon these Words that we base everything. Jesus is the Way to Life, but He is also the Way to experience Life. It is our main purpose to Lead people to a fulfilling relationship with Jesus. He is the Author and Finisher of our Faith!

Pillar Two: “Integrity” Integrity and honesty is something we must all work hard at. We let anyone who wants to be a part of the program that with Hand Up and everything good starts and ends with honesty. Our goal in teaching and training is to help persons discover what honesty and integrity look like. Encouraging them to make this who they are and strive to become. Modeling honesty and integrity is a must and expected from all leaders, mentors, and to the administrative persons alike. Oversight and integrity of all our finances, staff, participants, and volunteers is where Pillar Two begins and continues.

Pillar Three: “Discipleship” Jesus says, “Therefore GO and Make Disciples.” Matthew 28:19. As Disciples we are commanded to go and make disciples. As Disciples we must continue to follow Jesus and Learn, so we can to model Discipleship. So, this starts with Hand Up Leadership and is passed along to those God trusts into our care. But, we know that we can only lead people where we have been. We encourage participants to join in our personal discipleship journey. We Walk it together learning how to follow Jesus.

Pillar Four: “Stewardship” We are responsible to God first and then to everyone who gives of their time, talent, and or their treasure. Responsible to use it with honesty and integrity and to bring honor and glory to God. This involves everything we have been blessed with. Participants, volunteers, money, properties, furnishings, automobiles and the list continues to grow. Stewardship keeps us focused outward not just inward. We are part of our community and we feel responsible to help in the community.

Its these Four Pillars that direct our worship, preaching, teaching, and day to day living in our efforts to give a Hand Up to those needing and wanting a New Life.
